Liturgy
Here at the Catholic Center, we strive for a balance between offering a fun and approachable, student-friendly atmosphere and still maintaining the orthodoxy that makes traditional Catholic liturgy so fulfilling. Not only are Mass times designed with the college student’s schedule in mind, but everyone is highly encouraged to participate as Eucharistic ministers, lectors, gift bearers and/or musicians.
Recruitment and training sessions are usually held at the beginning of each semester and later if needed. Maybe you are self-conscious about reading or singing in public—that’s okay, you should then consider joining the bread-making or chapel decorating teams! Bread-makers meet on a monthly basis, and chapel decorators meet as needed throughout the different phases of the liturgical calendar.
Jobs / Positions
For this year and the upcoming years during construction, many of these jobs may shift and change. Thus please be patient with us as we adapt to our new worship space. However, volunteers are going to be needed now more than ever, so please email us with any questions!
Liturgy Volunteers – Sacristans, Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers are trained and then scheduled on and off monthly for the mass they chose.
Music - Singers and Musicians of any and all kinds are welcome. Each mass has a separate Choir with a different vibe, email us and we’ll put you in contact with the choir director for the mass of your choosing.
Breadmaking – The Communion we eat at table is hand baked as needed by a cheerful group of volunteers, it’s a beautiful way to contribute.
Flowers – The church needs to look nice, and if you are creative this is a wonderful position that involves purchasing (you will be reimbursed) and arranging flowers in the church.
Environment – As the Liturgical Year progresses, the church environment does as well, so that’s taking down banners and putting up certain colors. It’s simple and only happens a few times a year really.
Hospitality – Mmmm…donuts. Seriously, who wouldn’t want to purchase donuts and set up coffee for the after mass gathering.
Set-up & Take-down Volunteers - *new for this year since we may move to a new space soon*
